The installation of window displays, entitled Garden Sonata, draws inspiration from historical texts about love. Through striking floral symbolism and natural motifs, it evokes the mystical atmosphere of a garden as a place of safety, understanding, and escape. It is a story of searching and discovery, a metaphorical journey through the landscape of the soul.
Anna Kyjovská weaves the iconography of Hermes together with the distinctive influences that permeate her work. Her work subtly echoes elements of children’s, folk, and amateur art.
In her composition, hand-painted canvases interact with bold architectural forms, creating dynamic scenes. While the artist carefully considers color compositions, she approaches them intuitively. Almost all her paintings begin with simple sketches, the details of which Kyjovská develops spontaneously on the canvas.
Anna Kyjovská’s installation thus symbolically reflects this year’s Hermes theme: “Drawn to Craft.”
