The paintings from the Home to Me series operate with the metaphor of a personal “pilgrimage site,” a sacred space or place where personal experience intersects with religious symbolism. Figurative paintings with architectural elements, inspired by Christian iconography, examine the concept of home as a place, a person and an inner state. The figures are somewhere between what we know and what we feel – they are going home, or looking for a home. The height of the canvases corresponds to my own height, and their formats, like backdrops, leave the images free to express themselves. These paintings were created during a period of personal changes in my life, literally becoming a temporary home. In this way the series is permeated by motifs of change, faith and the quest for stability.
